Such hostility and violence against “foreigners” or other “foreign social groups” dates back as far as 4000 years ago when the Egyptian pharaoh ordered the midwives to kill all Israelite male newborns as a means of controlling their mightily growing population (Exodus 1). Again, we have seen the holocaust against the Jews by Hitler during World War II, the genocide in
What if one thought could change a thousand lives; one word, a thousand souls? No greater evil than for a man to die with 'a great idea' - unexpressed; 'a word of inspiration' - unshared; 'a message' - undelivered. God forbid!

Man, from the very beginning, showed one great weakness and that is, he cannot take responsibility. For his sin, Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the snake. There’s always a “scapegoat”. So, who is to blame for the violence taking place in the streets of Soweto ? Who is the scapegoat? I am afraid this time the scapegoat is the “Zimbabwean, Somali, and Tanzanian” who are taking our jobs. “Why can’t they return to their own countries?” It is shameful for anyone to even begin to think that way. During the South African liberation struggle, the ANC camped at Mazimbu in Morogoro , Tanzania . We hosted them with love. They felt at home and even married some of our women and have left their children and families here with us. No one ever asked them to return to their own country and fight. If we ever did, it was after we had trained and equipped them – something Mbeki’s government has clearly failed to do for Zimbabweans over the past 7 years.

Helo, allow me qoute you first before I comment"Why can’t they return to their own countries?” It is shameful for anyone to even begin to think that way. I would like to believe, that you are christian in the true sense of the word. When you help someone, they are not indebted to help you back when you are in trouble, i think that is where most of the african comemtators on the violence againts africans in SA are missing the point. when we accepted the people of SA during their struggle, i think it was because we felt they were are brothers and that moved with compassion we had to do what we thought was the right thing to do, and it ends there. what the south africans decide to do to you in return is their lack of gratitude and not that because you and I helped them, then they must not do that, we did't put such a clause when we were helping them, so that arguement for me is out.
I want to say violence had never sorted anything at all for the time the world came into existance and it only served to distance the perpetrator, cain is a good biblical example.
We did exihibit the same atituted against foreiners(may that we were not as violents as the people of SA) butall of us are unconfortable when a strager seems so close to mummy and even enjoys certain privaleges that you can't.Go the history of any country(even peacefull mother zambia)
What we must do is to push the SA government to share the country's wealth equitably so that the masses benefit. you cited botwana, they would call you a foreigner, but the socail services for the indigineous mutswana are okey and he/she is happy so they have no reason to kick you.
mzwaki mbuli an SA poet says " why give a chase to lizards when crocodiles are against you?" I want to believe that the poor SA are the lizards and the neponistic SA government is the croc you and me must pushor fight so as to solve this problem.
Remember a visitor can never over say his/her welcome........if the owner of house say hamber, you leave sir, besides home is home no mather what you eat, you are at peace(at least that apply's to me)
